I love clothes—I know it’s shocking, right?! But lately I’ve had a lot more fun mixing up my yoga wardrobe with accessories that can make any combination of yoga top and pants look fun, stylish, and totally appropriate for both the yoga studio and the pre-yoga trip to the coffee shop.
1. Scarves. Nothing turns a ho-hum outfit into a stunner like a beautiful, colorful scarf. Go for a lightweight scarf with a print on it for a breezy look. Plus, once you get to the studio, it can double as an eye pillow or a blanket in Savasana (Corpse Pose).
2. Ballet Flats. Sure, you could wear flip flops to yoga class. But a sweet pair of ballet flats always brings something classic, lady-like, and sophisticated to a yoga ensemble. They’re comfy and they slip on and off quickly, which is a must for a yoga outing.
3. Earrings. I’m not saying you should wear big, dangly earrings while you’re practicing yoga—that would be a big distraction! But cute earrings definitely bring attention to your face and help add originality to your overall look when you’re wandering about town pre- or post-yoga.
4. Versatile Sweater Wrap. My favorite thing to throw on over my yoga clothes is a drapey wrap sweater. It’s the only piece of clothing that you can wear so many different ways it almost never looks the same.
5. Yoga Mat Bag. Replace your handbag with a stylish mat bag to add convenience and style.

hehe, this is funny, cuz just the other day for outside yoga, I put on a loose bamboo shirt that I had worn to work over my yoga (open shoulder type) and it looked fab- AND it was stretchy so perfect for yoga!
I also always wear earrings to yoga. I have these cute silver spiral earrings that don't move much. i heart them 🙂
plus, I love how these little tricks can help us feel fab without actually BUYING more stuff. 🙂

Nailed it. 1, 2, and 4 are my mainstays! 🙂

Yes! Exactly! The best part is that it's stuff you probably already have in your closet!

I do the same thing I also have my mat and props in my favorite color pink.

live in my scarf. i didn't see funky yoga pants or shirt there… they are part of my yoga runway get up as well.

Carrie, that's a good point! I totally express myself through my yoga mat & props. I wish Jade would make their mats a little more special-looking by finding a way to put a design on…. I see a craft project in my future.
Nancy, Funky yoga pants of shirts will have to be a different blog post. I would love to know what your favorites are!

I don't know if this has hit the rest of the country, but this weekend I heard one girl say to the other "I am going totally 'Spoiled Yogi' this weekend".
SpoiledYogi says
Ha! No way! I wonder what she was talking about.. next time make sure you ask!

This blog is just another example of the blatant sexism in Yoga today. It's all about the women, isn't it? What is a man like me supposed to do with all this shopping stuff? We're people, too, you know.
Oh, I just figured it out. Buy something for my lovely(yoga-loving wife)! (But then you have to make it easier with clickable links and instant ordering.)

Ha. Bob, I didn't mean to leave you out. I would be happy to write a blog about how men can accessorize their yoga outfits, but I don't think that's my area of expertise. Write one up, and I'll be happy to post it! 🙂

I wish I could write it, but I practice my daily Yoga in whatever I happen to have on at the time without a mat on my living room carpet or, if it's warm enough, outside on my driveway, so all the neighbors can see! I asked Jane if she was embarrassed, and she said, "No, Bob, you never embarrass me." She's very kind, my wife.

I always wish that my yoga wardrobe is also nice and gorgeous like my party wear and other clothes of wardrobe. But I really got help from you to make it beautiful and the scarves you have shown is just adorable.

I'm grateful I found this. I've been very obsessed recently — I'm going for Yoga Teacher training and don't think I can get away with the same scruffy things I've had for 5/6 years as a teacher…but when did everything get so expensive? I want to look good, but I don't want to spend the money I need for food, you know?
My main problem was with colour. I love to be colourful, but if I've got too much going on, my clothes tend to clash. These ideas give me the option of using colourful accessories to brighten up my yoga wardrobe, instead of wondering if I should really buy the purple pants… 😛
Thanks, I'm definitely going to spoil my inner yogi!
