Last week, I blogged about how to find the perfect pair of yoga pants. This week, I want to give you a chance to win one of my favorites!
Lucy Activewear has long been one of my favorite brands because they make great clothes for all shapes and sizes! For me, that means I can buy a pair of yoga pants and wear them home–WITHOUT having them hemmed! (And I love the Hatha Pant because of the elongating hems down the back.) And now they come in organic cotton, too, so they’re fashion forward AND sustainable!
Did I mention we’re giving a pair away to one lucky reader? There are four ways to enter!
1. Comment below. Tell us what’s most important to you when you pick out yoga clothes: fashion, function, fit, price, environmental impact, or fair labor?
2. Tweet it up! “Enter to win fabulous yoga pants from @LucyActivewear and @SpoiledYogi! http://bit.ly/bHJa8s“
3. Like me on Facebook!
4. Join the Spoiled Yogi mailing list by entering your email address (in the right hand margin of this page).
I’ll announce the winner on October 3!
P.S. While we’re all in the spirit of giving… If you feel as passionate as I do about encouraging happy, healthy, aware kids, please consider sponsoring my Yogathon to benefit Louie’s Kids and Benefit Kids in Charleston! Click here for more info! My goal is to raise $1,000. Every little bit helps! And even if you can’t give, please help me spread the word by sharing it on your Facebook page and tweeting about it on Twitter!

Swoon! I heard that they had some organic options but I haven't had a chance to try them for myself. When it comes to picking out yoga clothes, fit takes the #1 spot for me, with environmental impact close behind. I'm tall, somewhat thin, but also curvy – finding clothes is a consistent pain in the butt (pun intended).

I most prefer yoga clothes I can wear to the office without looking like I'm wearing yoga clothes LOL An they have to be totally functional. No good looking good if they're useless!! However, style is less important to me than labour fairness.
Nancy says
my fav yoga pants are Hard Tail b/c they fold over the top.. ditto for Shining Shaktis. I dig the hug in the mom tummy factor, and i also like the soft cotton of both.

Hmmm, probably price. I've yet to shop at LUCY and have managed to attain functional yoga pants as gifts, at thrift stores or hand-me-downs. I'm going to try to put price second to environmental impact though! Fit is always essential too. I'm pretty short-about 5'2, so yoga pants musn't be tripp-able!
Be Here Now says
I pick my yoga clothes for fashion and fit. Probably split right down the middle in terms of importance.
Jennifer says
Lucy's hatha yoga pants are my absolute favorite! I love the little pocket in the waist and I agree about those bootie flattering seams! My top choice when choosing is fit, but I will admit, I want to feel cute, too, so colors and cut are important to me. Plus, I need the waist to be just high enough that I don't have to worry about showing my own moon during child pose or any forward folding, but the waist can't be too high. Lucy's hatha pant has the perfect rise!

As far as the perfect yoga clothes (pants, tanks or otherwise) for me it is a combination of all of the above. Finding a garment that works for teaching & practice. Something that keeps things "in place" and modest as well as longevity. Of course labor, fabric and construction all come into play! As a yoga teacher; we all know that our funds for fashionable and eco friendly pieces of yoga attire is not exactly overflowing!
I also try to reconstruct and sew some garments when I can. Function, price, environment and of course wear and tear are all equally important.

Fashion & fit. Style-y plus comfort–not too tight or too baggy.

The perfect yoga pants for me:
1) don't slide down too far when I take a forward bend or a down dog
2) are made in the USA
3) are environmentally consciously made (I love organic bamboo!)
4) are slightly boot-cut for a flattering fit
4) are available in colors other than black (don't we all have enough black yoga pants already??)

The most important thing for me when choosing yoga clothes is the marriage between form and function. I need clothes that stay put but still look good! 🙂

I used to be really thrifty (ahem … cheap) but lately I am seeing the value of spending a few extra bucks to get a quality product, that is well designed and will last for quite a while. So for me, and because I practice the HOT yoga styles, function is most important.
I have heard great things about Lucy!

I like a mix of fashion and function. My yoga clothes have to be practical, I wear them all the time and usually for most of the day! I like to look good so I appreciate a pant with details that help me look better while I'm out and about in between classes.
I've been looking forward to trying Lucy's yoga clothes out but I've been waiting since I'm on a tight budget… Sometimes I hate living in NY with it's sky high rents and everything else.
I'm a follower, I tweeted the giveaway (@extended_vacay), I like you on FB and I'm a subscriber!!!

Definitely fashion first, followed by fit. A flattering pair of yoga pants will make one wants to practise more 🙂

I just got into the asana aspect of yoga this year…finding yoga clothes to fit a plus sized woman is not an easy task. It's depressing to go on website after website that only cater's to women who are a size 12 and below.
Beyond that, I'm always looking for companies who produce products in a way that has little environmental impact (relatively speaking).
Like the others who have posted before me, liked on FB and subscribed…now to run off and tweet! ;>

I love lucy! Fit and environmental impact/fair trade labor are most important to me when picking out yoga clothes.

Price is my main concern when buying clothes. I can't afford to spend a lot so I always look for sales or buy at the Salvation Army. Doing yoga is the important thing. How I look is secondary.

I haven't bought Lucy pants before, but would love to try them.
I buy my yoga pants mostly based on fit, feel, and construction materials.
I also signed up for your mailing list, and I just liked you on FB last week.
Thanks for all your insight! 🙂

I'm unwilling to spend too much on my yoga gear, but it's important to me to have good coverage and select clothing that can endure a sweaty hot yoga session. I try my best to be quite cute as well!
Laura says
It's important to me that my booty looks good ;). Getting up and teaching is anxiety inducing as it is, let alone when my pants aren't doing their job. Really, I love a great fit and something that'll last through several washings a week for several months (or years).
Thanks!

Fit is definitely number one for me. I am amazingly short and when I find yoga pants that actually fit – I'll pay just about anything for them because they're so rare. While I do care about fashion, eco-friendliness, labor issues, and all that – if the pants don't fit than they're of no use to me.

Hi Erica! thanks for running this fun contest and BTW- love this blogsite! Penny is adorable but we have to give Gracey equal pix space( according to my felines here..:>)…As for yoga pants and what I look for- I have to agree with Kim above- I am not a petite flower by any means so fit and function are hugely important..Something fabulously fashionable means nothing to me if it falls down during the vigorous practice and distracts me from the yoga ansanas themselves! Price is also up there on my priority list! I can't afford and just won't pay 70,80,90$ for a pair of athletic /yoga pants..no way! Thanks and keep the blogs coming! great site!
Joyce says
good fit is most important. sustainability too. price comes third though I am willing to pay more for good fitting pants and sustainability.
Meredith LeBlanc says
I like to take fashion, function, fit, price, environmental impact, or fair labor into account when I buy anything. However when it comes right down to it if I look & feel good in something that is the final deciding factor. A garment may be green & labor compassionate but if I don't feel good in it those aspects are less effective in the vibes I'm sending out.

The most important part about yoga clothes is that they're comfortable, easy to move in and won't fade after I wear them for nine months of workouts and pregnancy- too many yoga pants down the tubes!

I didn't know about Lucy gear until I met an awesome yogini at stats camp this summer – she works at a Lucy store while getting her PhD. She just raved about how awesome the clothes are for both running and yoga – especially the perfect core pants!
Maria @dailydownwarddog says
Right now price is really important to me, followed by fit and environmental impact. I'm attending YTT right now – and not working full time, so a free pair of yoga pants would really make my day! Love your blog!
siilenti says
I'd have to say function is the top importance. Obviously they've gotta work for what I want. Environmental impact has been slowly climbing my list though, so as long as there wasn't a great price gap, I'd want to go for the environmentally friendly option 🙂
Lisa says
Fit and price are probably top priority…but all others are important aspects. Its important (but challenging) to find the balance between each.
sacredsourceyoga says
fit is the tippity top for me. It's rather distracting, for example, to be worried about undies popping out during down dog, but environmental concerns are majorly important and price is very important to me (student!). Thrift stores are my dear friends because they address the last two concerns automatically, and all I have to worry about is fit. So I've been wearing thrift clothes for yoga for many years, but alas, good workout clothes are hard to find in such a place and mine are getting a bit weary from the wear!
bonnie says
Most important for my yoga clothes are comfort and coverage. Last thing I want to worry about are wedgies or droopy yoga pants in down dog or having the ladies bust out in shoulder stand. And I never want the "feel" of my clothes to distract my practice. I once wore super comfy wide leg jersey pants, slipped on them during sun salutations and took a face plant.

I think fit and function tie for me. I'm tall, so for full-length pants I have to go to brands that offer tall options. I also prefer a narrower cut so that there's not a lot of fabric getting in my way as I practice, and I like technical fabrics because I sweat a lot and, while I like the idea of organic cotton, I don't like the way it gets soggy. That's just not appealing for anyone. Finally, I don't want to be yanking at the waist the whole time I practice, so I don't care for the lower rises in some styles.
I'm pretty sure my husband would find it hilarious and a bit disturbing that I have put so much thought into black pants.
M.A. says
So I'm walking along, and it hits me that I sort of dissed organic cotton pants and that was not my intent at all! I'm in a brain fog, it seems. I meant the old cotton pants I used to practice in that just didn't do the trick, especially compared to the ones I've found more recently. I've not had the pleasure of trying Lucy's cotton blend and I'm sure it's delightful.
Apologies, cotton!

The perfect yoga pant… Is fonctional AND fashionable! It stays where it's supose to be, so I don't always have to replace it and it's moving with my body.
Have a nice day!

Liz says
The perfect yoga pant is functional, flattering, and holds up to constant wear. If they are a reasonable price AND they have minimal environmental impact, too, I'm 100% sold and will probably buy multiple pairs!
Carrie says
I definitely look for fit first, and pants that don't have to be hemmed rank super high on my list!
jen says
Most important for me is probably fit. After that I go for function. I hate pants that are really wide at the bottom because I trip on them. I'm a little klutzy. I also do not like ones that make my butt look big!

boo yah! i love pants.
1. fit = so important, but so is fashion and everything else listed!
2. girl, you know i liked you on FB ages ago.

Don't have much extra cash to spend on yoga clothes as an elementary school teacher, but I recent started teaching my first graders meditation and breathing exercises to start and end the day on a positive note. The reaction I have had from the students and parents has been wonderful. My six and seven year olds have a much better understanding of each other and themselves as life long learners. 🙂

I pick my yoga clothes based on function and fashion. I like to be able to make stops after class if I need to!
